Purchase Tony Little's Rock 'n Roll Stepper with Workout DVD

I received two of these for Christmas. I guess I either talked about wanting it too much to my family or I need to lose a few pounds!

I read some of the reviews and at [...] and I think the HSN reviews are more accurate.

Here is my take on Tony Little's Rock N Roll Stepper:

Pros:

1) No setup required! Opened box, got digital counter started, and began stepping and began feeling 'the burn'. Guess I need to check out the videos soon.
2) Takes up a small amount of space. (I have a small house and with the use of a 18"-24" by 12" (or so) rubber mat with non-slip raised bumps from Menards (You can find for under $10 at your local home improvement store...Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I paid about $5 for mine).
3) Okay for low back, depending on severity of problems. I have lower back problems periodically due to herniated discs and the stepper actually reduce my lower back pain. Perhaps because I was working other muscles as well.
4) Price was a great deal considering how much it would cost for typical space-saving modeled steppers.
5) I can feel the burn in more than my thighs and waist, which are two of the areas I wanted to tone up.

Cons:

1) Wears one out, especially if a bit out of shape, rather quick. When I tested it out, straight from the box, I was struggling after 10 minutes. I think this is normal because I believe this is mentioned by Tony Little himself on the HSN site's video.

2) I'm thinking of getting rid of my elliptical machine. My elliptical machine also works the arms, so after I check out both DVDs included with the stepper, I'll see if other exercises are effective enough to make me sell off my elliptical.

Overall, consider what you currently have for exercise equipment, what your goal are, space conditions, and what you want to tone or where you with to lose weight before buying. And definitely, definitely get the suggested non-slip mat, because otherwise this baby does move. Personally taking all these things into consideration, I am VERY happy with my Tony Little Rock N Roll stepper. Too bad I have one too many. Wow, Tony Little comes up with some good stuff (the gazelle and this stepper for sure)!
